The Foodie Mom

Ok, I admit it. I am one of those “foodie” moms. You know, the one – the one who will not give her child food full of preservatives, dyes and GMOS. I’m the one that preaches why it’s so much better to have Stretch Island fruit roll ups instead of the original fruit roll ups. I’m the one you see in the grocery aisle reading every label of every product I pick up. I’m the one with the cart full of organic vegetables, odd looking grain products not made from wheat, and brightly colored alternative milk. I’m the one at the restaurant who is probably the bane of every waiter and waitress out there – I need this cooked separately, this substituted, this on the side, and only plain seasoning, not too much salt. Yup, that’s me.
But, I’m not the only one out there. My Facebook feed is literally filled with tons of friends who are the same way. It makes me excited to see that many of my friends are choosing to live a healthy lifestyle, and showing their children that it doesn’t take much to live healthy. I thank you for taking the time to read what I have to say and share, and I’m glad that you stopped by.
I started living like this fifteen years ago, and wow, have times changed. When I first started eating this way I was an anomaly. I am so very glad now that I’m not the only one who is looking for alternative products to the fattening preservative full GMO foods that are out there. I’m also glad that although my son has many food allergies, there are products out there that he can eat.
But, we’re still a long way from having our lifestyle as a facet of every community. Slowly together we can open minds to alternative eating. With so many tasty options out there, the possibilities are limitless.
So, when someone says to you, “Oh, you’re that kind of mom.” Be proud. You’re not the only one.
